Lyell was a correctional officer at CCC. He loved fishing, pig hunting and camping, but he mostly loved being with his family. He adored his three children, Marc, Shania and Jakob, and his granddaughter Harper.
Lyell was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic melanoma after a routine visit to the GP. Sadly, Lyell’s battle lasted nine weeks and he died on July 22, 2014.
Here is a message from Fay, Lyell’s wife:
“It’s amazing how we went from everyday life to living with melanoma and tragically living without Lyell. We hold the annual Lyell Duffy Memorial Golf Day in Queensland to help raise awareness and to maybe one day prevent another family having the journey we have had. We as a family find this a wonderful way to pay tribute to Lyell and raise funds and awareness of Melanoma. Lyell’s Legacy continues in each of his family and friends.”
AMRF would like to acknowledge Fay and family for their commitment to raising awareness about sun safety and fundraising for melanoma research. We are truly grateful for their continued support – it really does make a difference.
