This year the Lyell Duffy Memorial Golf Day was held on 21st July at Yeppoon Golf Club, which is the day before the 5th Anniversary of Lyell’s passing. Each year since, Lyell’s work mates at Capricornia Correctional Centre have organised a charity golf day in his memory – raising funds for the Australian Melanoma Research Foundation this year Lyell’s wife Fay Duffy and family organised the event.
Here is a message from Fay…
“Lyell was a correctional officer at CCC, he loved fishing, pigging, camping but mostly being with his family – he adored his 3 children and his granddaughter.
It’s amazing how we went from everyday life to living with melanoma and tragically living without Lyell who lost his very short 9 week battle with stage 4 Metastatic Melanoma.
We hold this event to help raise awareness and to maybe one day prevent another family having the journey we have had. We as a family find this a wonderful way to pay tribute to Lyell and raise funds and awareness of Melanoma.
It was a fun event with lots of laughs, memories shared, and drinks flowing.
Lyell’s Legacy continues in each of his family and friends.”
