Apply for a Research Award
The Australian Melanoma Research Foundation is empowering the next generation of researchers with awards that fuel innovation and advance melanoma discovery across Australia.
The number of awards each year depends on the quality of applications received. All applications will need to be contestable and show evidence of scientific merit within the national context.
Funding innovative research
The aim of our award program is to support high-quality research that is not fully funded through other grant schemes or from other sources. Funds awarded by our Foundation are to be applied to offset the direct costs of the research.
The proposed research may be part of an existing research program, however, the application should be for a stand-alone component of that existing project.
Applications for funding will be assessed against the following criteria:
- Publication history in melanoma (by the applicant and/or their supervisor)
- Evidence of scientific merit and clinical need within the national context
- Proposed dissemination of research findings
- Broader impact on education and awareness of melanoma
Independent specialists in the field will provide the Foundation with advice based on current knowledge of the detection and treatments for melanoma.
EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST FOR 2027 WILL OPEN IN LATE 2026. PLEASE FILL OUT THE FORM BELOW TO BE NOTIFIED.
Applications
Application for funding will follow a two-staged process. An initial Expression of Interest will be assessed by the Foundation against the criteria listed above, with full applications invited from short-listed applicants.
Research involving humans or animals must be approved by a relevant institutional research ethics committee and will be mandatory for ensuring funding. Funds will be paid to institutions where the research is to be undertaken. A research funding agreement between the recipient institution and the Foundation will be required.
